If so, you may be able to obtain a 100% rebate of the GST payable on the purchase of a townhouse or condo unit held in co-ownership from Habitations Desrochers Inc. According to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) website, the goods and services tax rebate applies to first-time home buyers:

- Reduces the tax payable on new housing worth between $1 million and $1.5 million.

- provides a 100% rebate of the GST (or the federal part of the HST) on new housing of up to $1 million;

For example, if you buy a condominium for $400,000, you will only have to pay the QST by filling out the appropriate forms. A saving of $20,000.
